Yep - they’re established, so it’s ladder-pulling time!

Tech savvy groups have always included a significant amount of well established people unhappy with how technology is being implemented or used - who then, yes, yell at clouds. Hell, a lot of us still literally yell about the Cloud.
Paraphrasing a management quote I found a few decades ago - if the engineers aren’t complaining about something, it’s not because they’re happy. It means they’re complaining where you can’t hear them.

Status bar? I see the opening in the back of the case for the for the camera, but no status bar.

Nah, if a cop charges her for that, she’d be right to contest it. Maybe it had fallen, and she tucked it in her lap to let her get safely clear of traffic before stowing it properly. Doesn’t matter if it’s likely or not, the burden of proof is on the accuser, and it’s not met here.
Let’s not let the police assume lawbreaking without clear proof, and lets especially not let them automate that accusation process!

Okay - so charge her with having an unsecured object in her vehicle.
The fine was for use of a phone while driving, when the phone was not in use. Not for having unsecured items in the vehicle. Not saying it’s a good idea to drive that way - it’s pretty clearly not - but that’s not the actual issue here

Doesn’t seem to matter. This lady got a massive ticket without any evidence of anybody being bothered by her

Her phone was face down, she wasn’t looking at it that we can see. All we know here is her hands were on the wheel, she was in her lane, and she wasn’t looking at her phone right then. Anything else is speculation without evidence.

That was what got me off - I kept feeling like I had to scroll much farther back to see the updates from friends I missed past what FB decided I should see, until I decided Facebook had made it no longer worth the effort

Not a fan of Robin Hood, then?

The moment you start selectively deciding who is and isn’t a thief is the moment the justice system starts breaking down.
Isn’t this exactly what a jury of your peers is intended for? So people - the members of the affected community - can decide who is and isn’t a thief, after ensuring they’re provided with all the facts of the case?

The difference is that the data centers aren’t part of the community. They’re invasive, coming in to steal the water and power and spoil the area with heat and noise. The locals have no say or control over them.
Turning a blind eye towards damage done to them is a form of self defense.

…y’know, id take that

I’ve seen some things suggesting they’re testing it, I’m not seeing that they’ve deployed anything.
Honestly, I’d expect AI to make the same mistake as their current systems, though, for a similar reason

You’re talking about a few different things, here.

“Hey, are you in-office today?”
Been asked several times as a newer employee on a hybrid schedule.
Also gives them a polite heads-up to expect a visitor.

Human drivers can pull in environmental and other cues though, like “why is there daylight on the road inside a building?”

Isn’t Brit a British term originally? I’d guess that’d the reason it’s considered different

Yeah, this seems more like marketers worrying about leaving money behind.
Any game where I can stop and think for a moment will work perfectly fine when I’m retired, from factorio to final fantasy.
Sadly, they don’t seem to me to be the type to drive from state to state
