This is one of the funniest posts I’ve seen here so far. Thanks for that! I unfortunately don’t otherwise have anything to add that hasn’t already been said, just wanted you to know that I enjoyed it a lot :)

Hope you don’t use (almost) any other messaging app either. If a single unsubstantiated article is enough to make you stop using something, you should be using almost nothing anywhere.

But yeah, that’s the thing, it doesn’t matter where it is based when there can’t be any information gleamed from it.
I’ve got backups. Haven’t updated or looked at my server in months. If I’m ever compromised by missing security updates, I just load a backup and regenerate all keys.
I don’t put any critical data on public facing servers.

Until you run into some kind of problem :D
I literally have a rpi4 and just put libreELEC on it

Of course, I didn’t make some kind of point about the general use of GUIs and CLIs, I just said that GUIs are much faster if you can’t remember commands, which is the problem in this thread.

True of course. If you look at my comment though, I haven’t said that speed is the point of the command line. Just that Linux users are obsessed with it. For most users most of the time, the repetition/automation is not the point and ability to write scripts is not the most important thing. And you can combine tools with GUIs as well, it’s just slower. Same with reliability, GUIs don’t have to be and usually aren’t unreliable, so command line only has the automation and speed going for it.
you only need to remember few letters of the command
I believe that is exactly the problem in this thread. The command history only works if you remember in the first place.

Use GUIs for all the things.
Linux users are obsessed with the command line because it’s faster if you can type fast and remember everything. If you can’t, GUIs are actually much much faster because you are visually guided towards what you’re looking for and have to spend little time looking for the correct commands and syntax and everything.

Don’t forget to update us please in case you figure something out :)

No one forces you to use let’s encrypt certificates. Can just quickly switch to another one temporarily.

Don’t remember, sorry

Xposed is just an API which is provided by the LSPosed Magisk module.

idk where I got it from, but it’s called “Universal SafetyNet Fix” by kdrag0n

Yeah but I mean if your bank would offer their app through F-Droid as an addition to Google Play, there is no reason to assume the app suddenly got less secure because of that.

But, there’s no difference in security between using a different storefront? The difference in security depends on the app itself, not where it was downloaded from.

Indeed, I already bypass SafetyNet and Play integrity with some kind of xposed module, I don’t expect this to change.

I wish Lemmy were searchable better. The search function actually works decently well, but it’s not on the same level of actual search engines, it doesn’t seem to look for related/similar terms and also relevancy doesn’t seem right.

Weird, I don’t use any add-ons and the subscription page by default works exactly like I think you want.
Good, more people should buy bicycles
