My first HD was a 20mb mfm drive :). Be right back, need some “just for men” for my beard (kidding, I’m proud of it).

I agree and my comment had obviously no nuance. I’m still dealing with VMware fallout in my professional life which is on Broadcom but still, this dude had control of another huge sinking ship previously…
Damn, this guy is utterly fantastic at ruining huge tech firms.
Thanks for taking the downvotes for the team. I laughed anyway :)
You know, the way this toxic bro culture has evolved, let them build their own romantic partners if actual human women aren’t good enough for them.
Personally, I love my authentic, human, beautiful complicated and unusual wife. I didn’t get to create her, but I’ve gotten to spend almost 20 years figuring her out and it’s been pretty great.
Honest question, I’d love to host email but it seems like a huge pain in the ass these days with trying to keep from being delisted. Is there a decent, home user accessible email system that’s useable out there?
A decade ago it was easy and doable but even in professional life I don’t deal with email backend anymore, all google or o365.
Yeah, entirely fake. But yes, you read my mind, I plan on adding some fun interactivity someday. Plan on some fake terminal commands like ping and so forth.
Thanks for the feedback!
Ha, you and me both buddy, although I like retina burning green :). Let me know what you think of my personal profile site: www.gradyp.com, made it just for the graybeard aesthetic.
right now I consider my fediverse and self hosted stuff as my ‘real’ profile. bluesky falls into the same category as linkedin, a necessary evil for my ‘professional’ profile.
So no, I won’t be leaving mastodon (or lemmy).
Sigh, here we go again. I jumped on board because it’s where my friends are. Was pleasantly surprised that most of my old twitter follows are already there. Still, given the history I’m being careful and ready for the next enshittification exodus.
I wish folks would just embrace self hosting and decentralization but we obviously love to make the same mistakes again, and again, and again…
it honestly could have been a 10mb, I don’t even remember. only thing I really do remember is thinking it was interesting how it used the floppy and second cable, and how the sound it made was used in every 90’s and early 2000’s tv and movie show as generic computer noise :)
You have me beat on the XT, mine was a 286, although it did replace an Apple 2e (granted both were aquired several years after they were already considered junk in the 386 era).
