That’s another reason I like cachyos: they have a curated list of aur pkgs in their repo.

It should actually be a rule to put some text in a text based platform.
This is another reason on why dodi / fitgirl repacks are so popular, they are masters on this.

Always use native pkgs if possibile (so use pacman/paru)

Runit is softly better but Systemd is perfectly fine. I would prioritize runit on very old hardware.
It looks interesting, Void is very solid but it miss some package and I’m not a fan of flatpaks, also the focus on KDE is nice.

I searched thru packages page: a lot of useful stuff missing
I’ve made a guide for repacks: https://slrpnk.net/post/12840703
“We are pleased to announce the release of Ardour 9.0. This is a major release for the project, seeing several substantive new features that users have asked for over a long period of time. Region FX, clip recording, a touch-sensitive GUI, pianoroll windows, clip editing and more, not to mention dozens of bug fixes, new MIDI binding maps, improved GUI performance on macOS (for most) …”

Qt version of cool GTK software: Nicotine+, Ardour (ahahah), Lutris, Cartridges
Qt software I would love to see graphically improved: QuodLibet, Falkon, Qbittorrent, KeePass
Others: PeerTube client, Syncthing client, Ardour+Kdenlive fusion (a good Video DAW is my wet dream), Lemmy for desktop

The only correct answer here.
The flatpak version is a little tricky to setup (directories) so I suggest you to use the distro pkg. "Unfa"on youtube has great tutorials. Ask me if you need something specifically.
Ardour is great, I suggest you to learn it even if you want to use some other proprietary ones, since it has an useful tool for fast mastering with setting optimized for social platforms. I also suggest you to use great floss plugins like SurgeXT, LSP-Plugins and Geonkick.

Masterpiece software.

Fedora Kinoite seems good if you want immutable

Every respected fediverse application is a potential menace to the actual centralized WWW.
It’s like having a “double check” from a trusted source, they compile selected stuff from the aur so I suppose it’s a little more safe for the random user.
