I like Bazzite because it has a bunch of optimisations for getting games runnin well, and because it disallows applications screwing with the system. If I really need an application that demands it’s files be put in a bunch of places I can’t audit easily, it can go in a toolbox and not impact the system, or I can audit exactly what it does and layer it into the system.

For a Linux newbie, I really appreciate a system that stays what it is, and doesn’t let anything change that without my explicit approval.

Why would you want your OS to use you’re memory? My browser already takes too much, and I really push my system trying to run dev-builds of games built for desktops.

In a very technical sense, you can turn any distro into any other distro, in the same way you can turn Windows into OpenBSD.

It’s probably also true in a smaller way, where you could technically reengineer a distro manually by replacing components and reconfiguring things until it works, but why? Someone already did that.

That’s just how LLMs read data, it could just be for a text search. The problem is where that data came from, if they’re outputting text from it, if they’re getting people to trust that output, and if they’re getting kickbacks from Nvidia for it.

Hopefully they keep the repairability, unlike Apple.

Honestly, I “upgraded” my phone to the 8 year newer model, and besides the easy numbers like CPU speed, RAM, and storage, it’s a straight downgrade. No headphone jack, slower charging, 50% chance of worse battery life (something slurps like mad sometimes), a hole in the screen, fewer buttons, a bunch of my apps don’t work anymore, fewer sensors, worse case selection, fatter & heavier, and the big G won’t stop pestering me to install malware.

I still use my old mobile more. It really just needs a new battery and some extra RAM.

I’ve had decent results running jetbrains IDEs from a Fedora Toolbx, probably doesn’t have to be fedora though. You just have to start them from a toolbox terminal.

I actually like the context key above the arrow keys, another method of effectively right-click is nice. Those Win keys are crazy though, that’s the perfect place for extra function keys. Imagine having f13 & f14 that you can bind to anything without worry!

There was a lot of work done behind the scenes to make sure that all those systems still worked. Probably too much, but it did work.

That’s a pretty good beginner project. More characters, more stages, and more gimmiks leaves plenty of room grow, but still something to be proud of early.

Plasma lets you pin any window to be always on top (short of fullscreen apps), and you can set up rules to automatically set that behavior for any pip window.
