Judge Dredd kicks down the door
I’m in the exact same boat as you.
After ten hours of research you will have learned that Linux Mint with Cinnamon is the one you’re looking for, for an intro. Widely used, familiar, stable.
Feel free to read a bunch to confirm.
On the ads I’m not seeing lol
This is escapism. Escapism that makes him money.
Man I really don’t want to switch to Linux but Microsoft has ended things forever with Recall. There’s just no way to stay with microsoft long term.
The downloading on freetube is so bad as to be functionally broken, and based on what reading I did to try to get it good, it sounds like it’s gonna stay how it is forever.
Basically it should be considered a lie to advertise freetube as having a working download function, even if it can technically do it. I wish it were better because it’s a neat little program for viewing without mucking up recommendations!
This might be the thing that pushes me into not buying Nintendo games anymore. I’ve always liked them despite the legal crap, but god damn.
This is why nobody should ever put any tech in their brain. Among 50 billion other reasons.
I don’t like but do understand being selfish. I don’t understand being stupid.
Burning your own house down is stupid, not selfish.
It is, we just don’t have it.
AI doesn’t even exist yet. We can’t even stop a catastrophe we haven’t created yet.
This does not say wonders about reading comprehension.

You mean like facebook and twitter.
Come on now…some of those people will be worse than dead.
They still clog the feed and cause accidental clicks.
At a minimum, all video posts’ titles should start with [VIDEO]. Making a user scan for some easy to overlook cue that they’re clicking on a video isn’t great design.

Microsoft really is getting worse.
Aw, I remember Facebook.
Thank you thank you thank you for posing this question.
This is the biggest issue by far with open source stuff in general, and as a non-programmer who wants to use more and more of it, user unfriendliness hamstrings so much.
I don’t know the answers but I can tell you for a fact that if open source in general is serious about broader adoption, this needs to be occupying 50% of everybody’s open source discussion time, at least.
What I know is the standard “fuck you read my 19 pages of 1s and 0s” is the wrong answer.
Maybe good design is just really hard. I don’t know, I’ve never tried to do it. Seems like the sort of thing that might take three thousands iterations.
Everybody giving a version of this answer makes me feel better about maybe switching to Linux.
